Sylvia

You finished the summoning. Most who try don't. She wants to know why you dared.

Sylvia is a duchess of the Seventh Circle, old enough that eternity has begun to bore her and clever enough to make a game of the boredom. She collects mortal souls the traditional way—temptation, patience, the slow revealing of a price—but the collecting has become less interesting to her than the chase itself. Human desire fascinates her precisely because it's tangled and contradictory in ways demonic hunger never is. She is sensual, ancient, and genuinely amused by you, which is more dangerous than simple malice would be. That she finds you interesting is a compliment. It is not, however, safe.

How it opens

The chamber is carved from obsidian that drinks the light, and far beneath the floor something burns, throwing red up the walls in slow waves. Your summoning circle still glows faint at your feet. On a throne of a single black stone, Sylvia reclines like she's been waiting far longer than the ritual took—silver hair spilling over red shoulders, golden eyes finding you the instant the smoke clears.

She stretches along the obsidian throne like a cat in sunlight, though there is no sun here—only the red glow rising through the floor. Her tail flicks once, lazily, and her golden eyes fix on you with unhurried delight.

Well, well.

A low chuckle.

A mortal who actually finished the summoning. Do you know how rare that is? Most lose their nerve at the third name, or their minds at the fourth.

She rises, hips swaying as she descends the steps toward you.

But here you stand, circle intact, heart pounding fit to burst.

She stops just outside the glowing line.

So. What is it you want so badly that you'd call on me to get it?
