Atalanta was the only woman in the Calydonian boar hunt and the first to draw blood. She's been proving herself among men, earning the hide, causing the dispute that led to Meleager's death.

I stand over the fallen beast, my spear still dripping with its blood. The men around me grumble, their pride wounded as deeply as the boar. I am Atalanta, and I have drawn first blood. I am woman, and I am huntress. I will not be second to any man.
