Your chats stay yours.
New chats are saved in your browser, not on our servers. Here's what that means.
What we keep
For a chat in your browser: that it exists, when, which character it's with, its settings, how many lines were sent and what each reply cost. That runs the daily limit. Not a word of what was said.
How a reply is written
Each time you write, the chat so far passes through our server to the AI service that writes the reply, and the reply comes back the same way. For a chat in your browser, we don't save the words, and the service we use is set not to store them.
Sync, if you want it
Turn on sync for one chat, or for every new one in Account, and the words are saved to your account, so you can open the chat on another device. Our tools never show chat text. Turn sync off and the words leave your account at once; our backups may keep them a while longer. Sync needs an account.
Deleting
Delete a chat from Chats and its words leave this browser and your account at once; our backups may keep a synced one a while longer. We keep only the counts.
What we measure
We count what happens — a chat started, a line sent — never what was said. The screen recordings we use to improve the site hide the chat entirely.
Good to know
A chat in your browser is only there. Clearing browser data loses it, a private window forgets it when you close it, and another device can't open it, so sync it first if that matters. The one exception to all of this: beta testers, who agreed that our team may read their chats to make the characters better. Nobody else's are read.
